As the Vice President of Biomedical Services for the Northwell Health’s Corporate Clinical Engineering Department; a division of “True North Enterprises,” I am currently responsible for defining, implementing, sustaining, and continually enhancing standards of practice System-Wide. These efforts are focus on delivering the highest quality of support, maintenance, repair, and sophisticated asset/resource tracking of all medical devices used in the care, treatment, or diagnosis of our patients. A cornerstone of this responsibility includes the ongoing development and refinement of strategies, which yield efficient, high quality, yet cost effective solutions of service coverage, support, and workflow strategies for all owned medical equipment within all Northwell Health hospital and ambulatory facilities. Our metric driven data strategy has permitted for, among other things, risk and total cost of ownership analyses at various levels. This previously unavailable granular information now permits for timely and accurate capital forecasting necessary for proper budgetary planning, which ensures our facilities remain on the cutting edge of clinical equipment technology. We remain focuses and proactive on all present and emerging challenges to our market sector, such as medical device cyber security risks, device interoperability, centralizing flows and leveraging the most from our medical equipment’s data, as well as developing for profit revenues streams in the form of direct technical support/maintenance and medical device consulting services.
