US Olympics

Think Tank Speaker

For 15 years, I found myself defined by my accomplishments on the track. I’m proud of these achievements -- three-time Olympian, World Champion, World Record Holder, and 2-time World Bronze medalist -- but they do not fully define me. I have also excelled academically, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Duke before going on to earn my Master’s degree. A lifelong advocate in women’s sports, I was selected by the US Department of State to serve as a Sport's Envoy to Morocco. I have also worked with Nike and USATF to update maternity policies to make Track & Field more equitable. My long career in professional sports, including becoming a mother in 2018 and navigating a return to top form, offers a unique perspective into the full range of the athlete experience. As I move on from competition, my mission now is to find ways to share that insight with other dreamers and high achievers.

Why Cloud Security is now a CISO and Boardroom Challenge

Cloud Security is evolving rapidly, and after the initial benefits of adopting a cloud environment, security teams are discovering that the fluidity and pace of cloud development and deployment, brings inherent challenges of an ever evolving risk profile due to the borderless reality of cloud. With this new unchartered territory of new threats, CISOs and boardrooms are unified in the challenge of understanding what this means for their business, and what approaches their security teams need to take to address and mitigate them.

In this session we’ll explore cloud specific threats of today and tomorrow; the implications of getting it wrong and the unique challenges a CISO has to consider when adopting a cloud-first security strategy.

Beyond Detection and into True Cyber Prevention: A Cultural Shift

In the last decade, the "assume breach" mindset has dominated cybersecurity strategies, leading organizations to heavily invest in detection and response technologies. While this approach is necessary, it often results in a reactive posture that only addresses symptoms rather than root causes. It's time for a paradigm shift.

This session will focus on the necessity of a cultural transformation within organizations, and will delve into the limitations of the current cybersecurity paradigm and introduce a proactive, quality-driven approach. By integrating quality management principles into cybersecurity, we can uncover and address the fundamental issues that lead to breaches. We will discuss how focusing on root causes, rather than just patching up problems, can lead to more robust, business-aligned security solutions. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how this shift can enhance risk management, reduce long-term costs, and ultimately improve business outcomes.

Join us to explore how moving beyond mere detection and response to true cyber prevention can fortify your organization's cybersecurity posture and drive sustainable success.

Cloud in the Storm: Navigating Security Challenges in an Era of Rapid Digital Transformation

The accelerated adoption of cloud technologies has transformed how organizations operate, but it also presents significant security challenges. According to Gartner, 79% of companies experienced at least one cloud data breach during the pandemic. As businesses embrace cloud-native application architectures to drive innovation and agility, traditional perimeter-based security models are no longer sufficient.

The shift to the cloud offers remarkable flexibility and productivity, yet it also exposes organizations to increased cyber threats and vulnerabilities. This raises critical questions: Is moving to the cloud the right strategy for your organization? If so, how can you effectively mitigate the new risks involved? Many organizations believe that application security must be fully automated to keep pace with dynamic cloud environments and rapid software development. Successfully balancing the benefits of cloud transformation with robust security measures will be essential for navigating this evolving digital landscape.
